Colours of Hope - Watsons Project

PACKAGING DESIGN

Group Project - Conceptualised and completed in collaboration with Donovan Tan and XinYu Goh at Lasalle College of the Arts (BA Design Communication).

IDEA

We wanted to veer away from the standard bright colours by embodying the idea of quiet strength in our design, as this reflects the potential everyone has within them. To illustrate and bring this across, a palette of primarily pastel colours was used, with emphasis on two main colours of verdant green and blue. Our design uses principles of similarity and continuation from the Gestalt Theory through the fusion of two images to form a whole. Furthermore, to incorporate the theme of nature, fruits and flowers were introduced. By fusing the mother dove and iris flower as well as fruits and nature, this created something like an optical illusion which intrigues the consumers.

Series 1: The fusion of dove and iris flower - the loving nature of the dove is seen through her action of protecting her child (the egg).

Series 2: The fusion of fruits and nature - the idea of nature and quiet peace is brought forth via the colour palette and style used for the dove and fruits.

Message: - One of quiet strength, dignity, grace. - Having tranquillity and joy. - Something not only visually appealing but also able to leave a lasting memory/impact on the consumer.

Medium used: - Mixed Media - watercolour, colour pencils and Digital Imaging Manipulation
